This thing makes great Coffee. Very convenient.

I don't like the idea of having coffee in plastic pods in contact with hot water. While every pod maker will have plastic inside, at least anything that would leach out of the plastic internals, will diminish after time. With plastic pods, I think there will be more plastic leach in the always new plastic and there will be much variability in the plastic used.

I also like that pods without plastic can be composted.

The MyCafe was a disappointment. I tried this for a week before sending it back; I just couldn't get a strong cup of coffee out of it. I ordered the Senseo coffee but I'm not waiting for it to arrive. I don't want to be locked into having a specific brand and type.
I tried using the little espresso-like paper filters, wetting them first, one on bottom, adding Starbucks, then one on top to protect the sprayer from getting clogged. I used a little over one plastic scoop of coffee, started the machine using the pulse button, but the water started dropping out around the filter. What a pain.
Another thing: The Ecopad, the Refillable Coffee Filter for the Classic Senseo that is shown under the section "People who bought this also bought" doesn't work with the MyCafe. It's too big.
If you like coffee that isn't strong then this will work great for you. Just buy the pods and you're all set But if you like a nice strong, rich cup of coffee I wouldn't recommend this machine.

My wife and I have been on the hunt for a new single-serve coffee maker ever since we learned Starbucks kicked Tassimo to the curb. If you're in the same boat, look no further!

The BUNN MyCafe makes better coffee than the Tassimo and it costs much less per cup (over 50% cheaper than Starbucks discs). No, Starbucks does not make coffee pods for this machine. However, there are a TON of other excellent choices. MyCafe accepts all coffee pod sizes so the selection is HUGE. You are bound to find something you like. If you prefer a "Starbucks like" bold cup of coffee we can highly recommend Baronet Sumatra and Melitta Buzzworthy (only 30 cents per pod on Amazon). If you like flavored coffee, Baronet Apple Strudel is delicious.

All of this goodness comes with one caveat. Before making your first cup of coffee, run two or three batches of white vinegar through it followed by ten or so cups of plain water. Out of the box, the MyCafe gives your cup of coffee a horrible plastic taste. It is bad - trust me. However, after running vinegar and lots of water through it, the taste is completely gone. This is the only thing holding this great appliance back from receiving a full five stars.

We almost pulled the trigger on a Keurig but held back due to so many bad reviews regarding quality issues with the machines. We're very thankful we bought the MyCafe instead.
